Submission Guidelines
Although we publish the work of a number of established writers from within the Commonwealth of Kentucky and around the country, we are equally open to submissions from new and unpublished writers. Generally, there is no editorial bias at The Review, either geographically or thematically. Quality and a concern for craft are the only true requirements for acceptance, the determining factor being work which demonstrates an aesthetic balance between content and form. However, authors submitting material to us should carefully consider the following information:
- We usually do not publish short
stories of more than 5,000 words
- We usually do not publish poems of
more than 100 lines
- We usually do not consider
simultaneous submissions
- Nonfiction submissions should have
literary themes
- We prefer that submissions come
through regular mail
- Our annual publication date is August 1st,
but manuscripts may be submitted any time during the year
- Response time normally is 60 - 90
days; however, submissions received during June, July, and August are not read
until September
- Payment for published work
consists of complimentary copies
