The Division of Humanities embraces the traditional aim of a
liberal education: a critical understanding of diverse cultures as expressed
in their literature, art, ideas and values. The College also strives to foster
analytic, interpretive, creative and interpersonal abilities, as well as
communication skills (both oral and written) which are fundamental to
functioning effectively in the College and in the larger community.
The programs in the Division all have course offerings which
are designed to teach students to develop, evaluate and express their ideas
critically. Through these courses, along with interaction with faculty and
other students, the Division of Humanities contributes to the formation of
responsible citizens and competent professionals. |
